Viewing requirements from 30 May

Requirements for viewings and other appointments from 30th May until further notice

We are delighted that the island continues to ease out of lockdown and return to normal.

There are still measures that we must all take to ensure that our community remains safe and that we prevent any resurgence of the Covid-19 virus.

These are the following procedures for all viewings, valuations and other appointments we will be adopting from 30th May until further notice to comply with Public Health guidelines.

If you are the homeowner, tenant or landlord

When you are contacted to request a viewing or appointment, you will need to:

  • Confirm that no-one living in the household is symptomatic or has had symptoms in the last 48 hours, or is under a compulsory isolation order, or is awaiting test results for Covid-19
  • Confirm that no member of the household is considered medically vulnerable
  • We recommend that no member of the household is present for viewings as is normal practice, but the homeowner/landlord/tenant may be present for valuations and inspections etc if required.

We will ask you to confirm via email that all the above conditions have been met and a copy of this confirmation will be kept on file.

When preparing your property for the viewing we ask you to:

  • Leave the property well-ventilated with all internal doors open to minimise the need to touch door handles.

We will let you know how long the viewing or appointment will take so you will know when you can return to the property.

We will provide feedback on the viewing or appointment by email, phone call or video-conferencing.

If you are the client(s) viewing the property or attending the appointment

When booking a viewing/appointment you will need to:

  • Confirm that no-one attending the viewing/appointment is symptomatic or has had symptoms in the last 48 hours, or us under a compulsory isolation order, or is awaiting test results for Covid-19.
  • Confirm that no-one attending the viewing/appointment is considered medically vulnerable.

We will ask you to confirm via email that all the above conditions have been met and a copy of this confirmation will be kept on file. We will re-confirm this status before starting the viewing.

We will provide all those attending the viewing with new disposal gloves (if you do not wish to provide your own) which must be worn for the duration of the viewing/appointment. We ask that you safely dispose of these afterwards.

We will try to keep the time that we are at the property to a minimum.

We will follow up the viewing via email, phone call or video-conferencing.

The Swoffers staff member

All staff are required to be familiar with the symptoms of COVID-19.

All staff are required to review the advice issued by the States of Guernsey on a daily basis.

The member of staff will:

  • Confirm that they or anyone in their household are not symptomatic or have not had symptoms in the last 48 hours, or are not under a compulsory isolation order, or are not awaiting test results for Covid-19.
  • Confirm that they are not deemed medically vulnerable.
  • Wear disposable gloves for each viewing.
  • Use hand sanitiser between viewings or appointments.
  • Aim to keep the time spent at the property as short as possible.

We will provide feedback to all clients involved after the viewing or appointment via email, phone call or video-conferencing.

Requests for property visits by third parties e.g. surveyors or advocates representatives

If a third party such as a surveyor or conveyancing clerk calls us to arrange to visit your property, we will ask you to:

  • Confirm that no-one living in the household is symptomatic or has had symptoms in the last 48 hours, or us under a compulsory isolation order, or is awaiting test results for Covid-19
  • Confirm that no member of the household is considered medically vulnerable

We will ask you to confirm via email that all the above conditions have been met and a copy of this confirmation will be kept on file.

If we do not receive this confirmation, then the third-party visit cannot go ahead.

Swoffers will require the third party visiting to:

  • Confirm that they are not symptomatic or have not had symptoms in the last 48 hours, or are not under a compulsory isolation order, or are not awaiting test results for Covid-19.
  • Confirm that they are not deemed medically vulnerable.

We will seek confirmation via email that all the above conditions have been met and a copy of this confirmation will be kept on file.

If we do not receive this confirmation, then the third-party visit cannot go ahead.

Anyone present on the site for any viewings or appointments should comply with current social distancing rules.
