£18,000 raised!  Never able to resist a challenge,'Team Swoffers' undertook to reach great heights this year!

It was during one of our social occasions that the idea was born to put something back into our community and whilst so doing set ourselves a challenge as a team; The 3 Peaks Challenge it became!

Team Swoffers did it again!!

Having undertaken to reach great heights this year and put something back into our community we completed the 3 Peaks Challenge! So ... at midday on Saturday we began ... Ben Nevis (4408 feet), a night time ascent of Scafell Pike (3209 feet) in the Lake District and finally Snowdon (3560 feet) in 24 hours! A flight back to Guernsey on Sunday evening and we were all in the office the following morning!! Everyone was mobile although the stairs proved to be Monday's challenge!

It was an incredibly hard challenge not helped by the adverse weather on Snowdon (thankfully our guide allowed us to complete it!) and the dark, almost vertical climb of Scafell Pike.

A very worthy cause - Les Bourgs Hospice

We have already raised £18,000 for Les Bourgs Hospice after completing the challenge and this has now been handed over to them.

The ambitious redevelopment of The Hospice is nearing completion and of the £4 million needed to complete the building, just under £2 million remains outstanding. You may not know that the Hospice receives no States funding and that no charge is made to stay there. It relies totally on the community for its existence.

Founded in 1990 it has helped countless Islanders and their families and we aim to ensure this invaluable support is maintained. Do visit www.lesbourgshospice.org.gg to learn more.

Please dig deep and make the pain of the inevitable blisters, the aching knees, immobile hips and general discomfort due to sleep deprivation worth our while!
