Sales Team Profile - Matthew Henry
Matthew Henry was born and brought up in Guernsey where he attended Elizabeth College before going on to further education at Plymouth University studying accountancy. Like many young people these days he then took the opportunity of travelling widely before settling down to life in the Island. His career started at Coopers & Lybrand where he dealt with company accounts, trust administration, financial institutions and individuals but he felt that this wasn't the career which would suit him for the rest of his working days. An interest in property and the opportunity to meet the general public on a daily basis lead him to Swoffers where he became a successful Local Market negotiator. The opportunity to branch out and pass his wide knowledge of the island on to newcomers prompted him to move to the open market department where he enjoys the 'buzz' he gets from meeting new arrivals to the island, spending time with them whilst getting a 'feel' of what they are looking for, before steering them towards their perfect home.
Matthew became a Director and shareholder of the Company in 1999, with his role as Managing Director following on in 2002. He is passionate about helping to raise money for local charities most particularly through our annual Swoffers Ball and, a couple of years ago, was even rash enough to agree to raise funds for our local hospice by taking a not so leisurely tandem ride with one of his co-Directors from John O'Groats to Lands End! When he gets a chance to really relax he likes nothing more than to be 'messing about in boats'! He owns a Moody Eclipse 33 yacht, is currently Commodore of the Royal Channel Island Yacht Club and takes every opportunity to spend time just pottering around the immediate offshore islands or popping down to Jersey for the weekend or to France for his summer holidays to indulge his other passion the appreciation of excellent food and wine!
